I love smoothies because they are quick and can be super healthy and delicious!

Here is my list of superfood smoothie recipe ingredients:

  • hemp seeds-these are great source of protein and omega 3 fatty acids and add a nice nutty flavour to smoothies!
  • ground flaxseeds-great source of omega 3 fatty acids
  • almond milk
  • hemp milk
  • rice milk
  • rice protein powder
  • hemp protein powder
  • tahini-sesame butter.
  • stevia-comes from a south american plant, has no calories, no sugar and isn’t artificial.  please see the post “Sugar–what’s the deal?” for more info about all the different sweeteners!
  • maple syrup and agave nectar–still high in calories but it’s so much sweeter than sugar that you only need a bit!  Use 1/10th of the amount you would normally use if you were adding regular sugar!
*All ingredients should be organic if possible, especially fruit without a peel!*
*For Diabetics, use Stevia instead of maple syrup or agave for sweetness because Stevia has no calories or ‘sugar’ and will not affect your blood sugar!*
*For all ‘milks’ buy the unsweetened varieties and then add a bit of sweetness with fruit and/or real maple syrup or agave nectar
agave nectar and maple syrup can be used interchangeably (or see above if you have diabetes!)*
*yoghurt should be of the organic plain variety–you will sweeten it with all the yummy ingredients you will add!*

Superfood Smoothie Recipe #1 Mixed fruit smoothie:
  • 3/4 C organic yoghurt plain
  • 2 teaspoons real maple syrup
  • 2 C water
  • 1/4 C strawberries, bannanas, peaches, pineapple or other in season fruit
Superfood Smoothie Recipe #2 Nutty Delight:
  • 3/4 C water
  • 1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1Tbsp protein powder (rice, hemp, pumpkin seed)
  • 1 Tbsp your choice of nut butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
Superfood Smoothie Recipe #3 Banana Flax:
  • 1 banana
  • 1 Cup rice, almond, or hemp milk
  • 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed
  • optional 1 Tbsp real maple syrup for added sweetness
Superfood Smoothie Recipe #4 Antioxidant smoothie:
  • 1 banana
  • 1/4 cup berries
  • 1/2 cup organic coconut milk OR 1/2 cup organic yoghurt
  • 1 cup green tea OR roiboos tea (no caffeine)
  • 1/2 tsp cinamon powder
  • 1/2 tsp cardamom powder
  • 2 Tbsp ground flaxseed
Superfood Smoothie Recipe #5 Vanilla Blueberry Smoothie:
  • 1.5 C water
  • 5 Tbsp hemp seeds or hemp hearts
  • 1 Tbsp agave nectar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • pinch of salt (optional)

  • 3/4 C yoghurt
  • 1/2 C water
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 C fresh or frozen strawberries
